There are several ways to control iTunes (Quicksilver, You Control: Tunes, GimmeSomeTune, SizzlingKeys) and this adds one more. QuickTunes appears in the menu bar so you can see what’s currently playing and quickly rate it or switch to another song. I really like the option “Play another by this Artist”.

iPhotoToGallery is an iPhoto plugin that makes it easy to put your photos on a Gallery site. Simply choose “Export” and then choose the “Gallery” tab (see screenshot below.) Easy as .Mac!

RSS is the easy way to get news and other information to your computer, using freeware apps like NetNewsWire Lite and Vienna. With iFeedPod, you can get these RSS feeds on your iPod. For example, if you open iFeedPod and subscribe to the Freemacware RSS feed, each time we write about a new freeware app it will be sync’ed to your iPod.

With Christmas near and Winter already here, why not have some festive freeware? Here are a few apps to spread the cheer.
We hope everyone has a good holiday. Here’s hoping that we’ll see tons of new Mac owners to come and participate in the freeware goodness.

This program is like Photo Booth with a Christmas flavor. You can flip on a Santa Claus hat or a big red nose, line yourself up, and snap a photo with a Christmas twist.

Wow, Snjor is a very interesting application. It runs in the background but not in the background at all. You start it up and snow begins to flutter down your screen. If you leave a window open, it will slowly start to pile up on the top of the window.
To me, this is a great example of how a simple fun app can be a thing of beauty on the Mac. Kind of like bullet.

Screen Sieve is a nifty tool for Mac OS X that lets you search the contents of the currently active window at any time. It highlights all occurrences of characters, words and phrases as you type, without requiring modifications to applications.
The “Command+F” works good to find things in a document or webpage, but there’s one thing I like about this app. “Screen Sieve doesn’t force you to change context. When you invoke the Find command, your window frequently ends up scrolling up or down. This makes you lose track of where you are. Screen Sieve simply highlights the visible matches, and ignores the rest until you decide to scroll further up or down.”

Here is a nice little utility that may come in handy. It allows you to clean your keyboard without making your Mac go crazy. You won’t use this app every day, but it’s so small you can keep it for a grimey day.
When you start “Keyboard Cleaner”, you screen is blacked out. The only keys that have any ability are “Command” and “Q” and only when pushed at the same time. So, once started, you can wipe down your keyboard.
Expectedly, the developer gets the response “Why don’t you just unplug your keyboard”, but for those of you who are laptop owners…that’s a little hard to do.
