FrostWire is a fork of the very popular Limewire Gnutella client. In fact, it looks very much similar and offers the splendi peer-to-peer goodness of file sharing.
The difference?
“FrostWire, although very much like LimeWire, will never offer a paid version or a subscription service for the download or use of the FrostWire application. FrostWire is a not-for-profit project. We will never bundle our software with any type of adware, spyware, malware or collect any personal or private data. FrostWire will always remain free as in both price and freedom.”

If you have ever worked with color in photo or graphics, you know how important it is to find just the right shade when matchin colors. Pipetter makes that easy. Once started, you can drag your cursor to any color anywhere on the screen and Pipette will let you copy the hex format for that color.
It works well and does it fast.

MediaFork will get all of your DVD’s ready for your iPod. If you have used HandBrake before than MediaFork will be quite familiar.
Basically, you just put in the disk, choose what kind of resolution and settings you want, and then your Mac do the work. It will rip the movie off (even if it is encrypted) and get it all ready for your iPod or for Front Row.
I suppose that I should recognize the great debate whether this is moral, legal, fair, etc. I say to each his own…but I’m getting all my movies ready for Apple TV.

iColors is a simple tool for working with colors and color codes. Designers might use it to manage a bunch of colors, like a virtual palette. Click in the large box to bring up the color wheel, then choose a color to see its hexadecimal code. You can also use the magnifying class to pick any color from the screen. iColors saves a history of all the colors you’ve worked with.

Xbench is a comprehensive benchmarking app for Mac OS X, meaning it will measure how fast and how powerful your Mac is. You can test your processor, memory, disk drive, graphics card, and more. The numbers may not mean much by themselves, but there is a benchmark comparison site where you can see how your computer compares to others, because as C.S. Lewis said, “Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man.”

Like the Keychain app that comes with every Mac, KeePassX is a security application for storing passwords and other private notes. You can save usernames, passwords, URLs, attachments, and comments all in one secure database. You set the master password for the database and it’s encrypted with AES or Twofish using a 256 bit key.

We previously reviewed Writeroom (no longer free) which provides a distraction-free writing environment. Jon Udell has written about the clarity and flow that comes from working without distractions, and though Mac OS X is far less distracting than Windows, we can always do more to minimize attention-grabbing Dock icons, windows, and alerts.
Think helps you minimize distractions by dimming or completely hiding background windows. For example, if you’re working in Mail, your Safari and Calendar windows are dimmed out so as not to distract you. You can easily switch between applications, but focus on one at a time.

Sloth shows you all of the open files on your Mac. Have you ever tried to eject a CD or external hard drive but it wouldn’t because a file was in use? With Sloth you can tell which files are being used by which processes (applications.) You can filter and search the list, and you can even kill any processes that shouldn’t be running any more.

TabStop does just one thing. It warns you if you are going to close a Safari window that has more than one tab open. No more accidentally quitting a browser that has a hundred great articles open and ready to read.
If you have tabbed browsing enable in Safari, you will appreciate this app.
