Everybody love neat little “Web 2.0″ applications. Only problem with them is that they only really do you any good as long as you are online. Leave it to Google to take care of that little technicality.
Today Google launched ‘Google Gears‘. Google Gears effectively eliminates the online requirement for Web apps. Imagine that… offline capability for web apps. I wonder how long before Google Spreadsheets and some of their other ‘office-style’ applications start taking advantage of this. Here’s some more info on Google Gears.

TubeTV is a fantastic little application that lets you save YouTube vids and Google Video in AppleTV or iPod compatible format. TubeTV does require the Perian QuickTime, but other than that, it’s good to go. Just drag it in your apps folder and you should be all set. No plugins, no config — just easy video for your iPod. Perfect!

Like its name indicates, WebMonitor checks the response time of whatever site you choose by sending a request that doesn’t over-stress the server.

Sometimes an iTunes playlist can get so large it’s hard to manage. Imagine how much easier it would be if you could tell which songs were rated higher than others, based on how much you listen to it. By installing AutoRate, you can rate what’s good and bad in your playlist based on your listening frequency. If your iTunes playlist is getting a little out of control, try using AutoRate when you start organizing.
