iChat is great. I use it the majority of the time because of the great integration in Mac OS X. However, in times of need, I fire up Adium for extra options.
Adium will connect with many protocols, including AOL, ICQ, .Mac, Jabber, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Novell Groupwise, and Lotus Sametime. There are also alot of other great options in this IM freeware.
And how about that icon? How do you not love the duck?
