One of the best known applications among school computer lab administrators may also be of benefit to you. Carbon Copy Cloner backs up your entire disk — not just the data files, but the entire operating system — by saving a snapshot of your disk. Lab administrators use this for deployment; you might use this for backing up your entire hard drive to an external disk. If something bad were to happen to your system or files, you could rollback to a fully working, complete backup without having to reinstall the operating system or individual apps.
