Personally, I really like Dashboard. However, I know there are others out there who don’t find much use in it. This freeware is for them.
DashPrefs is an open source preference pane that will let you disable Dashboard. You can either turn it off for good, or just keep it off until you purposely launch it.
And, for the paranoid folks, this pane will also let you stop the dashboard from calling home.
