Doodim

During my most recent trip to Macworld, I noticed that a lot of the presenters had very cluttered screens when they gave their presentations. As soon as they would come out of Keynote, there would be a ton of different windows and all kinds of icons. I’d often be distracted with what was going on everywhere on the screen. This program could have really come in useful.
Doodim dims all others windows and the desktop so all that is left is the foremost app, the menu and the dock. Once running, the brightness level is set in the menu bar. You can choose Dim, Dimmer or Black.
This program could be similar to Backdrop, but maybe it has a bit of an edge because it dims out the desktop AND the other windows. Try both, they’re free.
(Note, it looks like the sudden popularity has brought the site down. We have a temporary download here. It looks like the site is all good again. But, since I’m updating this post, I will take this opportunity to say that FMW reader Jerome wrote in to say, ” The makers of Doodim missed a great opportunity. They could have called the program DimSome.” I think that’s really funny. )
