FinderIconCM
Staying with the “icons” topic, let me introduce FinderIconCM, a contextual menu with a purpose similar to that of Micon. This little app rounds off the triumvirate of icon/thumbnail apps that I’ve used for many months.
CocoThumbX is good for replacing generic image icons with actual thumbnails of the pictures. Micon and FinderIconCM are both good for copying/pasting icons to and from items, and can handle large selections of items at once. While Micon uses a drop well and has an icon history menu, FinderIconCM rests in the Finder’s right-click menu and has a “Stock” where you can save up to 80 icons for later use.
FinderIconCM also has a “Create Folder Icon” option where you can combine the icon of the selected item with system icons, like a folder, document, or volume, thus creating a new icon out of two. For example, if you have a folder filled with text files and want to know what’s inside by just looking at the folder, you can make a new icon of a text document superimposed on the icon of a folder.
This one’s lots of fun and very versatile, so be sure to explore it’s features fully.
