FreeDMG offers a fast and simple way to create disk images by dragging and dropping. You can drop files on either this app’s window or dock icon, and it’s much faster than using the Disk Utility application. FreeDMG also offers several options for the disk image. You can create internet enabled disk images and choose the level of compression, encryption, and type.
I found this program quite useful for backing up my Mac. When you have conflicting formats on the backup hard drive, you can create a quick disk image to be copied over.
