Nvu (pronounced N-view) is a great open-source web authoring application. It is a free alternative to FrontPage or Dreamweaver. The project was started by Linspire in attempt to bring good web authoring software to Linux. But the program has been compiled for Windows and Macintosh as well.
Nvu was built from the Mozilla Composer code base and has blossomed into quite an amazing program. It has several options, but also empowers those who are just learning to create websites as well. With Nvu’s WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) authoring, you don’t need to know HTML to make a website.
Be sure to run Nvu from your Applications folder.
