Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to combine two of the most popular things in technology today. iPod do you take Youtube to play and to hold til a dead battery do you part?

This marriage is made possible by PodTube. As you find good videos that you like on Youtube, just fire up PodTube and it will download the video, encode it for an iPod, and optionally add it to iTunes for you. It does require Safari and that you have the Desktop as your download folder.

So if you want to take the classic “Manamanah” song or a great Mac ad spoof with you, PodTube will make that possible.

Update: This freeware is no longer free. It has gone the unfortunate way of the almighty dollar.  PodTube is still pretty cool though and maybe worth dropping a couple dollars on.
