There’s a soft spot in my heart for the Super Nintendo. And of all the SNES emulators available for Mac, Snes9x may just be the best. It plays real smooth and has many features, like the easy save/load interface (the 1 and 0 keys, respectively). Then just hit the number of the file you want to save/load. Another useful key is the ” \ ” key. It speeds the game up dramatically, which is indispensable for long, boring story sequences. Then just hit it again to return to normal. You can change these and other default keys in the Config menu at the top of the screen.
Of course, you’ll need to download the games you want to play. I use vimm.net, which has many NES and SNES games in the site’s “Vault” section, and even has a section for downloading game manuals. So relive your childhood.
