I don’t know how to pronounce it, but I like SubEthaEdit more than any other text editor. While not trying to be or do everything, SubEthaEdit has powerful features for programmers such as semantic highlighting for several programming languages, search and replace with regular expressions, block editing, line numbering, and Unicode support. It also boasts — unique among text editors — multi-person, collaborative editing through Bonjour.
SubEthaEdit costs $35 for a commercial license, but it’s free for personal use. Highly recommended.
UPDATE: SubEthaEdit is no longer free, even for personal use. Still a great app.
