While I’m not sure how to pronounce the name of this software, it has still been incredibly useful for me. Touvaly is a drop application utility for making pseudo copies of files, folders, CD’s and volumes. A pseudo copy of a file is a file with all the same attributes as the original file (creation date, modification date, type, creator, name, etc.) but with empty contents.
I use it to keep track of what is on my external hard drives. I keep a lot of movies, tv shows and disk images on my external hard drive because I don’t want to fill up my Powerbook hard drive. With Touvaly, I make a pseudo copy of the whole external hard drive and I keep it on my Powerbook. This lets me have a good inventory of what is on there, but I don’t have the full files taking up space. This helps me know if I should grab that TV show with Transmission, or if I’ve already grabbed it.
Touvaly is very fast at what it does. Very fast.
Update: Darn, I was sad to see that this has turned to shareware. Have fun in money land.
