Broken Cartridges: A No-Win Situation

Unfortunately, we cannot recycle or pay for broken cartridges. To help ensure that the cartridges you ship retain their value and are not broken during transit, we have included a few pictures along with instructions on how to safely pack your cartridges.

Cartridges Broken In Transit

The plastic guide on the top of this HP cartridge has broken off and, as a result, this cartridge no longer has any value

The protective gate (found on the majority of laser cartridges) must be protected during transit - when functioning properly, the gate automatically slides back into place and completely guards the underlying colorful drum
When we receive a broken cartridge, everyone loses: You are not paid for a broken cartridge and we have paid for shipping on a cartridge we cannot recycle. In order to prevent this from hapenning, please follow these simple packaging guidelines:

BEST:
Packaging your cartridges in their original protective sleeves

BEST:
Balls of newspaper help prevent movement during transit

BEST:

BETTER:
Wrapping your cartridges in sheets of newspaper

GOOD:
Packing chips are messy but also help cushion cartridges during movement

GOOD:
Wrapping your cartridges in sheets of newspaper

GOOD:
Sealing your cartridges in plastic bags

GOOD:
Airpacks are a decent alternative to newspaper and packing chips

BAD:
Cartridges which are not protected have a much higher probability of being damaged during transit
